Insane launch issues aside, Cyberpunk 2077 has done more than enough to earn its reputation as one of the best game's of the last decade.
CD Projekt Red's epic RPG is an insanely ambitious romp through a setting that was pioneered all the way back in the 80s, with the Phantom Liberty DLC serving as a nice capstone to one of the better gaming experiences you're ever likely to have.
As such, we're not against going back to the world they created in any form, so the announcement of a new, regular series from Dark Horse Comics is one that we can absolutely get behind.
Over on Blue Sky, the storied comic company confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome is on the way, with the first issue set to release in January 2026.

The four issue series is being produced by a creative team led by Tommaso Bennato and Doug Wagner, with the series set to provide a horrifying twist on the usual narrative formula.
In announcing the new story, the team shared some of what fans can expect, saying "A group of friends including a netrunner, a fire graffiti artist, an aspiring rockerboy, and an autotechie set off for a fun photoshoot at a landfill, where among heaps of rubbish, scrap, and metal, they'll find a shot to die for! Rumor has it the place is haunted, and they're about to find out that in Night City, there are things far more frightening than ghosts."
The comics are being described as the first slasher story set in Night City that really leans on classic horror elements, rather than people just being killed for a quick source of Eddies.
Fittingly, considering it's theme, Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome is the 13th limited comic series to hit shelves, with all of the ones released so far counting as canon in the game's wider lore.
If you haven't read it yet, it's well worth checking out the last set published by Dark Horse Comics, Cyberpunk 2077: XOXO. That story follows a major beef between two gangs that really sticks to the true foundations of the Cyberpunk setting and it even has some interesting Romeo and Juliet-style Shakespearean romance if that's your kind of thing.
The first issue of the new comic has been confirmed for 16 January, 2026, with the three subsequent issues set to follow at an as yet unspecified date. If previous runs are anything to go by, there will likely be a compendium release that contains all of the issues in one volume as well.
