God Of War: Cast Nick Offerman As Kratos In The Series, You Cowards

I'm tired of pretending I don't want this

It's been all but confirmed that a God Of War TV series is in development, and I couldn't be more excited at the possibilities.

According to recent reports, Sony and Amazon are in negotiations to bring a live-action adaptation of the hit PlayStation series to Amazon Prime. The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and The Wheel of Time executive showrunner Rafe Judkins are currently attached to the project alongside Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.

While it's still early days for the series, it seems clear that a God Of War show is inevitable at this point. Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted have both had adaptations, while The Last Of Us and Twisted Metal TV shows are also in development. Whether or not it's Amazon Prime is immaterial: Kratos will definitely make his way to our screens before long.

This, of course, throws up the all-important question: who should play Kratos in a live-action God Of War series? Should it be Jason Momoa, with his rippling muscles and fabulous beard? Or maybe Dave Bautista, with his quiet intensity? Neither, I scoff. It should obviously be Nick Offerman.

Best known as stubborn Libertarian Ron Swanson in Parks & Recreation, Offerman is an odd choice for Kratos on the face of it - but kind of a perfect one, all the same. There's been a growing call among fans to see the actor take on the role, and it's not hard to see why when you really think about.

While Offerman is best known as a comic actor, he's more than capable of flexing his dramatic chops. Recent roles in Fargo and Devs have shown what he can bring to the table, and I've no doubt he'll break our hearts when he appears as Bill in HBO's The Last Of Us next year.

Offerman expertly balances cold indifference with moments of genuine warmth and kindness, which would no doubt make him a perfect fit to play the older Kratos of 2018's God Of War. He's also an expert outdoorsman and woodworker, which I feel would add a cheeky layer of authenticity to the show. Our boy doesn't need to pretend to chop down a tree or fashion a canoe - he can just do it.

What started as a bit of a joke casting could well go on to become an inspired choice that elevates the God Of War TV show to an entirely new level. The ball is very much in your court, Sony.
