There’s very little room for debate when it comes to the value of Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft’s gaming subscription service first launched back in 2017, and since then, it’s been offering subscribers a massive library of quality titles to dig into.

Whether you choose the regular PC/Console plan or the slightly more expensive Ultimate tier, Game Pass is pretty much a must-have for anyone with an Xbox or functional PC, but there’s always going to be some people trying to find loopholes to pay as little as possible. As reported by Screen Rant, in light of a recent surge of sneaky customers, Microsoft have been cancelling subscriptions and forcing people to cough up if they want to keep using the service.

Apparently, a number of users were uncovered who’d been stacking the standard version of Game Pass’ introductory subscription offer and converting it into Game Pass Ultimate - essentially giving them more than Microsoft had bargained for. The fun’s over now, though, as anyone who did this has reportedly been officially notified, and removed from the service.

They’re not banned, though - anyone affected by this can simply resubscribe by paying the price they were supposed to in the first place. Their accounts and game history will all remain intact, too, so things could have been a lot worse.

If you’re not already a Game Pass subscriber, there’s some real treats coming in July that might just tempt you. As well as the Shadowrun Trilogy, Naraka Bladepoint and FIFA 22 all being added to the library, perhaps most excitingly, subscribers will be able to check out Far Cry 5 on cloud, console, and PC. If you enjoyed Far Cry 6, you might just want to give its predecessor a go.
