Xbox quietly delays one of its biggest exclusives

Xbox quietly delays one of its biggest exclusives

Sad but understandable

One of Xbox’s most anticipated exclusives has reportedly been delayed and fans are left feeling disappointed.

First-person action RPG Avowed was one of the most-anticipated games of the year but according to a recent report by The Verge, it has now been delayed until early 2025.

Check out the story trailer for Avowed below!

Avowed is an upcoming action fantasy RPG set in the distant land of Aedyr.

You will take on the role of the envoy of the land who must investigate rumours of a spreading plague in an island full of mysteries, secrets, danger and adventure.

“You discover a personal connection to the Living Lands and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything,” the synopsis reads.

“Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?”

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the delay is in order to avoid a “very busy period” on Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service but rest assured, Avowed is in “good shape”.

The title was originally planned for a 12 November release when the date was accidentally leaked back in June in a developer blog post.

However, this would have seen Avowed head to the Xbox Game Pass during the same month as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on the 19th and post-apocalyptic shooter Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl on the 20th.

Not only would Avowed have to battle with fellow Game Pass titles but also with Assassin’s Creed: Shadows which releases on 15 November.

The next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series remains highly-anticipated despite the controversy surrounding it.

Not only that but BioWare’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also reportedly release in the third quarter of 2024 and that is not a title Obsidian would want to go up against.

Avowed has not yet received a specific date but will release in “early 2025”.

Let us hope it doesn’t clash with anything at the start of the new year.
