WWE 2K23 is just a blank cover this year, weird

WWE 2K23 has revealed its next cover star as John Cena.

WWE 2K23 will soon be on the way. After all, it’s cemented itself as a yearly gaming staple. This year though, when the game launches on 17 March, it’ll feature a blank cover … sort of. Please don’t make me explain the joke.

Last year saw Rey Mysterio grace the cover with his presence. WWE 2K22 landed a score of 77 over on Metacritic which is respectable. It’s a score that this week’s major release, Forspoken, could only dream of. Critics were not impressed. I digress though. WWE 2K23 will be hoping to improve on its predecessor so it’s recruited Peacemaker actor John Cena as its cover star.

Take a look at the star talking about his time with the WWE below.

Do you get the joke now? As reported by IGN, John Cena will star on the cover of all three editions of WWE 2K23 when the game launches on 17 March. If you’re wondering why Cena was picked this year, it’s actually the wrestler-turned-actor’s 20th anniversary as a wrestling superstar.

I mentioned that there are three separate editions. There’s the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition and the Icon Edition. If you’re looking to grab the Deluxe or Icon Edition, those will release slightly earlier on 14 March. The Deluxe Edition includes the Bad Bunny bonus pack and Season Pass while the Icon Edition will also include the Ruthless Aggression pack, an Emerald Paul Heyman MyFACTION manager card and the three deluxe premium launch MyFACTION card packs.

When I joked that this year’s cover was blank, I was obviously referring to Cena’s famous ‘You can’t see me’ catchphrase, duh. It’s a pretty iconic line, although I admit I always preferred The Rock’s catchphrase. As long as I never have to hear The Boogeyman screaming “I’m coming to getcha” again, life will be bliss.
