Thanks to the release of The Witcher 3’s new-gen update, everyone is once again full of love for Geralt’s latest video game adventure.

The internet has never been short on praise for The Witcher 3, but gamers on Reddit are now sharing their love for the Blood and Wine DLC. Previously hailed as “DLC done right”, some users now think that it's “better than the main game”.

Reddit user idekdood55 explained that after finally giving the main game and Hearts of Stone a try, they were already impressed. However, they believe that Blood and Wine is “one of the best gaming experiences out there”.

“Not only does the new setting make the game look even better, but the story itself made me not want to drop the controller till I had to go to work,” they wrote. “I have a massive backlog and have played tons of games from the early 90s era, and I am genuinely surprised at the awe this game left me in. Just glorious.”

“It's so good. I remember only playing the game because I had nothing to play and since I bought the game on sale with DLC, I was like ‘why not?’ I went in totally blind and oh boy, I was not expecting it to be that good,” agreed wasabiexpress. “I agree completely! I loved the game but the B&W expansion is something else entirely. The aesthetics, the music, the missions are at a whole other level,” added Soulreaver90. “Yeah Blood and Wine is great, better than the main game even. Implore anyone who enjoyed the base game to play the DLC,” wrote Significant-Tea8004.

If you’ve already had your fill of The Witcher 3 though, fear not - an entire new trilogy of Witcher games is currently in development, as well as a remake of The Witcher 1. CD Projekt Red certainly knows how to keep us busy.

The Witcher 3’s new-gen update is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
