Valheim Meets Wind Waker In Underrated RPG That's Basically Free Right Now

This is so pretty!

Valheim meets The Wind Waker in this underrated RPG that is practically being given away for free right now.

When it comes to the most gorgeous games in the beloved The Legend of Zelda series, it doesn't get much more lush than 2002’s The Wind Waker on the Nintendo GameCube.

At the time, I remember the outrage that this Legend of Zelda entry had cel-shaded visuals, but I think over time, fans gradually appreciated that The Wind Waker is not only a gorgeous game that stands the test of time, but it’s also incredibly fun to play.

As for Valheim, this fantastic survival RPG took the video game industry by storm when it was first released on PC in 2021. When it arrived on Xbox two years later, it continued to build its player base and remains one of the most popular games of its respective genre.

So, with that in mind, what is the aforementioned RPG that blends Valheim and The Wind Waker, I hear you ask? The game in question is Windbound, developed by 5 Lives Studios.

“Shipwrecked alone on an uncharted island, explore, adapt and navigate the land and perilous seas to stay alive,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“As Kara, you are a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed onto the shores of the Forbidden Islands, a mysterious paradise.”

The gameplay trailers for Windbound have all the visual and sea exploration splendour of The Wind Waker with the crafting elements of Valheim, which isn't a bad concoction, to be fair.

If you’ve never played Windbound, now may be the perfect time because it currently has a whopping discount on Steam of 90% bringing the price down from £17.79 to just £1.77.

Windbound is also available on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. However, at the time of writing, the game is only discounted on Nintendo’s eShop at just £1.59 from its £15.99 RRP, also a saving of 90%.

It's definitely one worth checking out; take advantage of that sale offers before it reverts to full price tomorrow, 10 September, at 6pm BST.
