A brief snippet of what looks to be the first full trailer for Sony’s upcoming Uncharted movie has leaked online. It’s believed that the teaser will be officially released imminently, but for now we have our first proper look at the long-awaited adaptation in action.
The first thing that fans will notice about the teaser is that it includes a set-piece directly inspired by one of the most impressive moments in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Towards the end of the third game, our hero Nathan Drake sees himself scrambling, mid-air, to get back inside a cargo plane that’s violently ejecting all of its contents - including Drake himself.

In the leaked footage we can see Drake, played by Spider-Man star Tom Holland, in the exact same scenario. The plot of the movie has yet to be revealed, so it’s unclear exactly how much more it will reference the third Uncharted game, or if it’s just this one moment. What we do know right now is that the movie is a prequel in which Drake is just starting out as a treasure hunter and learning from mentor Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg). No doubt there'll be at least a handful of fun nods to the first two games for eagle-eyed fans to spot too, but let's hope they don't go overboard. If the movie starts with Tom Holland waking up on a crashed train, I'm leaving the cinema.

After many, many years lingering in what is known as development hell, Uncharted will finally arrive in theatres February 18, 2022. It's amazing what you can achieve in just ten years and seven directors, isn't it? We’ll be sure to update this story as soon as the official trailer is released.
