Step aside Henry Cavill fans because you’re about to see Mads Mikkelsen as Geralt, and we promise you, it’ll change your entire world.

Sure, Cavill has nailed portraying younger Geralt, with the news of his departure from Netflix’s The Witcher leaving a bitter taste in our mouths, but what of older Geralt? Enter Mikkelsen. We wouldn’t have initially thought of the actor, yet having seen the fantastic imagery from 3D artist Wonki Cho, we have to admit that Mikkelsen is the only candidate who’s suited to this role.

The “astonishing actor” garners a lot of praise whatever he stars in, with one fan going as far as to reveal that they watch him in anything, and we mean anything. “If Mads is in it, I’m watching,” they said. “He is never a disappointment. I even watch his Danish furniture commercials and Italian lighting commercials. And I f**king love them.”

We’re not that enamoured with Mikkelsen, though we admit he’s a captivating actor who commands every role he takes on. Such a presence seems almost too perfect for older Geralt, especially with doubt so strong amongst the fandom in terms of how Netflix would handle it.

“Not for Netflix Witcher with the current team. He would be a terrible waste of a great actor,” posted one fan, while another added, “Yeah, Mads is one of the greatest actors on earth. He deserves way better than that.”

Seeing as how Netflix has never mentioned Mikkelsen joining the production, we suspect the actor is safe from the mistakes the platform would undoubtedly make. However, we’d still like to see another show or film cast the great actor as the White Wolf.

But the bigger question that needs addressing here isn’t if Mikkelsen will ever get the role of Geralt, but whether he’s in agreement with Cavill that Yennifer is Geralt’s true love. Now that, my friends, is the most important topic for discussion here.

Maybe one day we'll see Mikkelsen as Geralt. But it's a day we're not quite ready for or deserving of just yet.
