After the Barbie movie took 2023 by storm, it seems as though Margot Robbie is still riding the waves of success after announcing plans to produce a movie inspired by the hit gaming series, The Sims.

Movie adaptations of popular video games are pretty much the norm in recent years with franchises such as Tomb Raider, Uncharted and even Dungeons & Dragons receiving the Hollywood treatment. However, one series we did not expect to see adapted for the big screen was The Sims. However, a movie for the life simulation game is reportedly in the works.

Check out The Sims 4 below!

Set to be directed by Kate Herron, best known for her work on Marvel series Loki, Herron will be teaming up with co-writer Briony Redman to write the mysterious screenplay. Not only that but the production company, LuckyChap will be getting involved which will be headed by Margot Robbie herself.

Robbie will work on The Sims movie alongside fellow LuckyChap producers Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr who worked together on Barbie. Additionally, Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment will be joining the team to work on the Electronic Arts title. Electronic Arts itself will also be involved in creative and production capacity.

Since the first The Sims game was released back in 2000, it has gone on to become one of the most successful computer games of all time. With around 112 entries including expansion and kit packs, it has made itself a household name.

However, with the main premise of the game living out the lives of your characters, it remains to be seen how a movie adaptation of it will look. Some fans speculate it may bring some light to Bella Goth’s mysterious disappearance between The Sims and The Sims 2. Others joke that it will be some sort of horror movie reminiscent of players removing doors from rooms and ladders from pools.

Regardless of how it will turn out, it will be interesting to watch nonetheless.
