Star Wars: The Acolyte officially returns in surprise new release

Return of the Jedis

Star Wars: The Acolyte was cancelled before a second season could be made but fear not, as the characters from the show live on.

In true Star Wars fashion, once something is made part of the canon, there’s always room for it to return one day, and while the chances of Star Wars: The Acolyte getting a Season 2 are slim to none, never say never.

It was a good show too, it’s a shame it got taken from us so soon.

This year, the Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh will be making a return in a new novel, titled The Acolyte: Wayseeker by Justina Ireland.

The book is available right now and while it doesn’t act as a sequel to The Acolyte, it at least continues the story in some way.

For those who might not recall, Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh was the character with the awesome lightsaber whip who would have had a vital role in Season 2 if we ever got one.

If you’d like another Star Wars book recommendation, Star Wars: Darth Plagueis is a good shout, as we saw the infamous Sith lord for the first time on-screen at the end of The Acolyte Season 1.

A second season might have been our best chance of seeing Plaguesis’ story first-hand, making it even worse that there’s no continuation.

Again though, never say never; perhaps the show will get a surprise renewal in the next few years if Disney believes fans want it enough.

Hopefully, we get more High Republic stories in the future though. It’s an interesting time in the Star Wars canon and one that very rarely gets explored on the big-screen.

It’d be even better if it went back further to the Old Republic, or perhaps even further to the very beginning of the Jedi and Sith Orders.
