Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic TV series quietly teased

Please, make it so!

A Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic TV series might be on the way according to an industry insider.

We may not be getting that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic PlayStation 5 remake anytime soon or even a third numbered entry in the series but we are perhaps getting the next best thing.

Check out the trailer for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic below!

The original game in the Knights of the Old Republic series was developed by BioWare, years before we were treated to Mass Effect and Dragon Age. However, its sequel was created by Obsidian Entertainment.

For many, 2003’s Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best sci-fi RPGs of all time and I agree, I love that game. So imagine our excitement when a remake was announced in 2021.

Sadly, since then, we’ve practically heard nothing but negative news on its development with reports of development teams being changed and others claiming it's been internally cancelled.

In September 2024, other reports claimed that the remake of Knights of the Old Republic is still in development and if true, that would be great news but it’s increasingly becoming difficult deciding what to believe.

At this time, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from its publishers, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games.

That being said, while there is no sign of an official update on the progress of the Knights of the Old Republic remake, we might be getting the next best thing with two new Disney Plus series.

As reported by The Direct, entertainment insider Daniel Richtman (via his Patreon), claims that two new animated series are in the works that will take place thousands of years before the Skywalker saga and will be set during the Knights of the Old Republic age.

The ill-fated The Acolyte was set during the High Republic age but was cancelled after just one season.

With the two rumoured series being animated, it’s claimed that Lucasfilm is keen on the lower budget appeal compared to a live-action production as it looks to produce something less expensive than the likes of The Acolyte.

We’ll keep you posted if we get official word on the two rumoured Star Wars animated series set during the Old Republic. As they say, watch this space.
