I’m all for a spin-off or translating a franchise to another medium but I’ll also admit that I do find it hard to keep up with major franchises these days.
Star Wars, for example, spans films, television series, novels, comic books, and video games.
Yes, you don’t need to consume every release to keep up with the main gist of what’s happening but dearest reader, there was a time where being a franchise ‘completionist’, if you will, was far more achievable.

These days, I have to remind myself of the plots of five MCU films and six Disney Plus shows just to see where all the key players are before I watch the latest release.
The idea of the cinematic universe is becoming a bit of a minefield but worry not, I’m here to help you fill in some of the gaps.
Today, it’s Han Solo that I want to talk about, as we’re all very familiar with Han’s movements throughout the original trilogy and The Force Awakens, but what about the years in between?
Well, that’s a question that’s being answered in a brand new comic book series.

There’s only three episodes left of Andor, and I’ll be sad to see it go.
Star Wars (2025) #1 launched just a few days ago on 7 May.
Written by Alex Segura and with art by Phil Noto, this new release basically follows on from Return of the Jedi as our core trio continues to defend the galaxy far, far away.

Luke Skywalker finds himself defending the New Republic from “a bloodthirsty gang of mercenaries,” while Leia Organa will be grappling with “a new alliance opposed to the goals of the New Republic”.
As for everyone’s favourite scoundrel, Han Solo will begin “investigating a deadly underworld mystery”, saving “a surprising ally” in the process.
My curiosity has been piqued, I must say.
Of course, Star Wars (2025) #1 is just the first issue in the series with #2 already confirmed to land on 11 June, with #3 following on 16 July.

The third issue will even see Han embark on a new adventure with Lando which is surely not to be missed.
I should stress that this series is indeed canon, so this is the official bridge between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens which, in my opinion, makes it doubly worth checking out.
Issues #4, #5, and #6 will eventually launch later this year, although exact release dates aren’t yet available.
Volume. 1 will then be published on 6 January 2026 when all six initial issues are available.
