Star Wars quietly saying goodbye to one of franchises' most beloved characters

We're not ready to say goodbye

None of us are ready to say goodbye to this Star Wars character, yet the time may be upon us whether we like it or not.

Bidding farewell to characters in a franchise as extensive as Star Wars is going to happen; fans know this.

However, it’s saying a final goodbye to beloved characters that few have got used to.

Sadly, this is something the fandom may have to do if recent rumours are to be believed.

Let's throw it back to that wonderful season three trailer for The Mandalorian

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, The Mandalorian’s end is drawing near, with the film apparently marking the conclusion of the Disney series.

Richtman purportedly said, as per The Direct, “I have also confirmed The Mandalorian movie will be the final chapter of the show, no season 4. He will be in other projects after that, but The Mandalorian will be over.”

The movie has a 2026 release window, meaning we have just under two years before we have to say goodbye.

However, fans will undoubtedly be questioning whether we should have to say farewell to this iconic character at all.

Currently, while Richtman is regarded as a reliable source, this end for a beloved Star Wars character is only speculation.

It’s a rumour that makes sense, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll come to pass.

When one door closes though, another opens – or so the saying goes.

Although we may have to say bye to Mando and Grogu, a recent Knights of the Old Republic update was just the confirmation we needed to know the remake is going ahead.

Fans have been waiting a painfully long time for this remake, so although the tedious waiting game isn’t pleasant, it’s comforting to know the project is being handled with care.

Or so we hope.

It’ll be a sad day if we truly have to say goodbye to The Mandalorian, however, at least we know that Mando the character may show up from time to time.
