Legendary Star Wars villain General Grievous has been unmasked and fans are freaking out.

Making his debut in the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) before making his live-action debut in the movie Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), he’s been one of the most popular characters in the franchise from a galaxy, far, far, away.

Check out the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith trailer below!

Other than being a military strategist and master of the lightsaber able to wield at least four during battle, there’s more to this forever-coughing cyborg than meets the eye. Fun fact, General Grievous is also quite the lightsaber collector, said to have accumulated hundreds during the Clone Wars.

What’s more, it would be easy to assume that General Grievous has always been a badass cyborg his entire life but as detailed in the canon comic book series, Age of Republic - General Grievous which was first released in March 2019, he was once a Kaleesh species named Kaman Jial.

“The fearsome separatist general strikes! In his hunt to kill Jedi, Grievous stumbles across a power greater than he imagined,” reads the synopsis of Age of Republic - General Grievous #1. “What secrets will the killer cyborg find inside a lost Jedi temple? Can Grievous strike a blow against the very Force itself?”

This of course, to the surprise of many, means that before he became General Grievous, this once loyal servant of Count Doku, actually had a face, as shared by Redditor IllusiveManJr.

“Thanks, I hate it,” replied a Reddit user. “Wait... what is happening?” said Mando-19.

“Wow. Kaleesh look really weird without their masks,” exclaimed BeardManJ. Though Mudron had more of a deflated response adding “Well, that's kind of a letdown.”

If you want more General Grievous, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith as well as practically all other movies and series in existence from the franchise are available to stream now on Disney Plus.
