A fan-favourite character may be returning to the current Star Wars universe after a hint was dropped in a recent release.

There is no better time to be a Star Wars fan (unless you were a fan of The Acolyte) (I’m not bitter, I promise) as the universe continues to expand day by day.

Check out the official trailer for season one of Ahsoka below!

From new television shows to movies, comics to video games, the sci-fi world shows no signs of slowing down and its vast cast of characters still have a story to tell.

Even if they have been missing in action for quite a while.

That is definitely the case for Captain Rex, everybody’s favourite clone trooper from the Mandalorian era.

What fans love most about Rex is his relationship with Jedi Ahsoka Tano after the pair fought together in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before reuniting in Star Wars Rebels.

Despite Ahsoka now being a familiar face in the timeline courtesy of her appearances in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, Rex has yet to make his return.

However, according to the canon book Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers, written by Marc Sumerak, Captain Rex could soon come back.

"The war against the Empire may be over, but a good soldier knows that there's plenty of work left to be done after the last shots are fired,” the passage reads.

“My rebel friends and I are still picking up the pieces , but as far as we can tell, Palpatine is gone for good and the galaxy is finally free."

Although not explicitly stated, this reveals that Rex has stayed in contact with his friends and so could return to their sides in the future.

With Ahsoka season two set to begin filming next year, we could very well see the much-loved clone trooper make an appearance and fight alongside Ahsoka once more.
