Star Wars fans discuss the origins of Darth Vader’s true father after his miraculous conception.
Darth Vader is not only one of the most iconic villains in the Star Wars universe but also one of the most instantly recognisable in all of TV and film. So much so, that it’s likely even non-Star Wars fans would know the name of the man formerly known as Anakin Skywalker.

All Star Wars fans know that Darth Vader is Anakin, however, that shocking revelation did come as a big surprise to his two twin siblings, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa. That being said, knowledge of Anakin’s father is pretty much non-existent.

In Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, we’re introduced to a very young Anakin kept as a slave by the despicable Wattoo in Mos Espa on Tatooine. It’s here where we also meet Anakin’s mother, Shmi.
In The Phantom Menace, when Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn asks Shmi who Anakin’s father is, she replies saying that he has no biological father after he felt an unusually strong Force presence from the boy.
“There was no father. I carried him, I gave birth, I can't explain what happened,” said Shmi. So in other words, it seems like there's a bit of a mother Mary and baby Jesus scenario going on here.
However, Movie_Advance_101 has suggested a theory that the birth of Anakin Skywalker could have more to do with Darth Plagueis rather than a miracle conception.

In Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Movie_Advance_101 shared a line from Emperor Palpatine where he shared the story of Darth Plagueis to Anakin, Palpatine’s former master, of how he had a unique ability to create life.
“It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorins to create... [significant look at Anakin] ...life,” said the man who would later become Darth Sidious, and master of Darth Vader.
To cut a long post short, Movie_Advance_101 has theorised that Darth Plaguesis is the reason why Shmi became pregnant with Anakin, using the power of his unique dark side abilities.

We all know that in canon, Anakin is a Force baby, but the theory of Darth Plaguesis being the daddy of Anakin is at the very least, an interesting concept.
“He is not. Anakin was, in every continuity, created by the Force,” replied AdmiralScavenger.
“In neither Legends nor canon, is this true. The experiment failed and Anakin is a result of the Force striking back against his and Sidious' machinations,” explained RandomTrainer101.
They continued: “It's why in that novel, Plagueis is shocked when he glimpses Anakin's arrival on Coruscant in The Phantom Pain. He knows the timeline matches up and realises that while his experiment failed, it may have triggered a response from the Force itself through the Midichlorians.”

“Plagueis did not create Anakin. The Force created Plagueis to counter what Plagueis had done,” Gorguf62 exclaimed.
So, there you have it, as intriguing as it might be that Darth Plagueis could technically be Anakin’s father, it’s not true and never has been.
