Star Wars fans divided over Darth Plagueis’ real age

How old is Palpatine's master?

Star Wars fans are curious about where Darth Plagueis fits into the wider timeline, and how old he was by the time of his first live-action appearance.

Darth Plagueis is a mysterious figure in the Star Wars canon, as he was the Sith lord who trained Palpatine and potentially had something to do with Anakin’s conception, but that’s just a theory.

Despite his importance to the overall storyline, basically kicking off the saga with his actions, he’s only made one live-action appearance in Star Wars: The Acolyte.

He appears at the end of the first season of The Acolyte and while that was really exciting, it’ll unfortunately amount to nothing as the show is cancelled and won’t be getting another season.

Regardless, his cameo raised several questions amongst fans, one of which was how old is he in The Acolyte if he’s still around by the time of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

One fan asked as much in a Reddit thread, saying “In Legends, Plagueis was presumably a teen by this time, but hey, it's Canon and not Legends, so they can do what they want with the character. Now, with that said, how old do you think Plagueis is in the new canon by the time of The Acolyte?”

The user got their response, as someone pointed out, “In Legends, Plagueis’ age is inconsistent across the sources. The Darth Plagueis novel puts him something like 'well over a hundred years old' by the time he meets Palpatine. If we go off that logic, he’d be into his adulthood at the time of The Acolyte.”

Another added, “Yeah. He is definitely an adult," which is still a tad vague.

Hopefully, we get a full-fledged Darth Plagueis storyline at some point in the future, either in live-action or through one of the animated shows. He’s such an interesting character and it’s criminal his story has hardly been explored yet.
