Star Wars quietly makes controversial change to Luke Skywalker's origin

Did these two ever meet?

Star Wars has just made a controversial change to Luke Skywalker’s origins, at least according to Andor Season 2.

It’s been about a month since Andor Season 2 wrapped up, and we’re still trying to figure out some of the show’s biggest mysteries that have been left unsolved.

One thing in particular that the show may have changed involves Luke Skywalker’s backstory, who at this point in the timeline is still living miserably on a moisture farm on Tatooine with his aunt and uncle.

If you remember back to Andor, Season 2 Episode 7 (“Messenger”), we see a healer tend to a group of Rebel soldiers, and then Cassian Andor himself.

The healer, who is in tune with the Force, tells Cassian that he is meant for something greater, foreseeing his role getting the Death Star plans during Rogue One.

It's a cool scene because it treats the Force as this unseen, mystical energy that makes up life itself, something that hasn't been seen in Star Wars since the original trilogy.

Considering the Force healer is located on Yavin along with the rest of the Rebel Alliance, fans have theorised that surely Luke would have interacted with her during or just after A New Hope?

Of course, this is a pretty big retcon if true. Up until now, it was the assumption that Luke’s understanding of the Force came from Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope, followed by Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back.

As the audience, we also learn about the Force at the same time as Luke, which is what makes those scenes where he speaks with Obi-Wan and Yoda so compelling.

It seems weird to think that a third person could have also guided him in the ways of the Force, and it doesn’t make a lick of sense either. Especially because this would have had to happen off-screen.

There’s nothing in Star Wars Canon to suggest that Luke and the Force healer ever interacted, but there’s also nothing saying they didn’t either.

It’s possible that she simply left at some point before the Millennium Falcon came to Yavin, because she was needed elsewhere. Or maybe she died.

Perhaps this is something that’ll be explored in a future show, film, or book. But for now, we have to assume that Luke and the healer never interacted.
