OG Pokémon theme tune hailed as greatest in anime history

Pokémon fans are hailing the OG series' opening theme tune as the greatest in anime history.

Fans are arguing that the original Pokémon theme tune is the greatest in anime history - and I fully agree. It is a certified banger.

Regardless of whether you’re a true Pokémon master or the most casual of fans, ‘I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was,’ is probably already on a loop in your head. TO CATCH THEM IS MY REAL TEST, TO TRAIN EM’ IS MY CAUSE. Sorry, I’m not sure what came over me then. This tune is just too dang catchy. It isn’t simply catchy though. Fans gathered on social media to explain just how much comfort it’s brought them over the years.

We boarded a real life SS Anne. Take a look below.

Twitter user pokemonszn started the discussion, writing, “It’s crazy how Pokémon is responsible for the greatest opening song in anime history.” Andrjnlle added, “Literally I cry of happiness every time I hear it,” while Lala_Aymeric said, “Getting goosebumps listening to this.”

Bloodypainter96 commented, “When I was younger, I used to watch Pokémon on TV every night and always scream the song.” Very relatable. A nostalgic MScantz said, “The very first introduction to the world of Pokémon. Some 25 years later and tons of games collected, it never gets old.” I back that. I’ll never hear this song and not sing along. It’s like the song equivalent of a warm hug.

In related news, PokéPark Kanto was recently unveiled - a brand new theme park land dedicated to the franchise in Tokyo, Japan. Elsewhere, one fan took it upon themself to remake Pokémon Black and White in Unreal Engine 5 - and the end product is gorgeous. Still not enough Pokémon for you? We recently dove into Pokémon Horizons with GAMINGbible’s Sam Cawley praising the series, adding that it had him “feeling like a kid again”. Ah, sweet nostalgia.
