Spider-Man fans hyped as Sony officially teases our new Spidey

Yet another webslinger enters the fray

A brand new iteration of Spider-Man is on the way, and it’s shaping up to be a damn good one.

Before you get up in arms, no, this isn’t a Tom Holland replacement.

While Spider-Man 4 is yet to be formally announced, the fact that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton has been appointed as the film’s director basically confirms it’s happening.

When that does come to fruition, so too will Tom Holland don his suit once more.

In the meantime though, there are several other Spideys to hold our interest.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hudson Thames will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the animated Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, after playing the character in What If?.

Today though, I want to discuss a new version of the webslinger in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, or the SSU.

In case you missed it, Nicolas Cage is set to portray a live-action Spider-Man Noir in the aptly titled Noir on Prime Video - and a fresh tease has just landed.

ICYMI: The SSU’s Venom will soon take his last dance.

I wish I could say that this tease was something more concrete like a set image or trailer, but it’s a tad too early for that.

Instead, Sony’s Amy Pascal has granted some insight into Cage’s take on the character, telling Deadline (via DiscussingFilm) that the series will explore a “broken down, busted Spider-Man”.

“We will be seated,” wrote one Twitter user.

“I’ll watch anything with Nick Cage in it,” added another, while one fan commented, “Excellent. Cage will rock this, like he rocks everything.”

In recent days, it was confirmed that Brendan Gleeson had also joined the show’s cast.

It’s not yet known who Gleeson is playing but it’s supposedly the show’s villain.

We’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the series as it progresses through production.
