It looks like classic Marvel villains have been quietly confirmed in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day was announced on 31 March 2025 by MCU live-action Peter Parker star, Tom Holland, on a CinemaCon stage in Las Vegas.
“I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home… so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start,” teased Holland to those in attendance.

I am about to go into spoilers for the 2021 Marvel movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, so you have been warned.
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker decided for everyone to forget that he is Spider-Man, including his girlfriend MJ and best friend, Ned Leeds. What’s more, it also meant that his two friends barely know he exists, while he remembers everything.
This was done to keep his friends safe in the hope that his enemies wouldn't use them to get at Spider-Man. In turn, this also meant that the Spider-Man movies from Sony, in collaboration with the MCU, had a soft reboot, of sorts.
In a previous report, leaks claim that in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Andrew Garfield, Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr. would feature in some capacity.

Now, as reported by ComicBookMovie.com, during a Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation in Las Vegas, it’s claimed that three villains of Spider-Man: Brand New Day may have been accidentally revealed.
It’s suggested that Scorpion will feature in the movie, along with Tombstone and Boomerang.
Tombstone is a crime boss in the world of Marvel Comics and is also aligned with Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, so with the revival of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney Plus, Tombstone featuring in the MCU makes some sense.
While Tombstone appeared in 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games, he’s never featured in a live-action production, nor has Boomerang, a known member of the Sinister Six.

However, Scorpion, played by Michael Mando, has featured briefly in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland, so there is already somewhat of an established connection.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently in pre-production, and the MCU Phase Six movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 31 July 2026, assuming it suffers no delay.
