Scarlet Witch officially making her MCU return in 2025 sequel series

The Witch is back

Everyone’s favourite misunderstood heroine is returning to the MCU in 2025.

Regardless of your feelings about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a whole, we can all agree that Wanda Maximoff was done dirty.

Left almost broken at the end of WandaVision, the events of the Multiverse of Madness were the attempts of a desperate, heartbroken woman.

Arguably, this is why the demise the Scarlet Witch was met with – crushed underneath the ruins of Mount Wundagore – felt like such an unfair conclusion.

Another MCU moment we need to prepare for is Captain America: Brave New World.

Since her MCU death, Marvel fans have been waiting for the Scarlet Witch to return; they speculated it would happen in Agatha All Along, but that wasn’t meant to be.

Thankfully, we now know when the Scarlet Witch will make her grand return.

Elizabeth Olsen has been confirmed as one of the cast for Marvel Zombies, due to air on Disney+ on 3 October 2025.

Taking into account how difficult it’s been to get any concrete answers about Wanda’s fate, fans have joked whether Olsen knows she’s involved in this project.

Twitter user @Ben3PO said, “Does Elizabeth Olsen know?”

Others are simply “unimpressed” by the cast lineup, which also includes Black Window’s David Harbour and Florence Pugh.

Perhaps the reason for these deflated responses is due to the nature of Marvel Zombies.

Despite being canonical, it works in a similar fashion to the events of What If...? and thus exists in a different universe.

In the one where Olsen’s Scarlet Witch finds herself, the Avengers have been turned into zombies.

Even if what happens in the sequel series has nothing to do with what eventually becomes of Scarlet Witch, it’s a sign that her time in the MCU is far from over, as fans had previously predicted.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige revealed as much at D23 Brazil when they said, “So all I can say is that we’re excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can come back.”

This official return in the 2025 show feels like just the beginning.
