MCU fans terrified as Thor's 'epic' send-off teased

Here's hoping this death is as awesome as it sounds, given how rubbish Thor: Love and Thunder was...

Sounds like Thor is on the way out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his exit from Disney’s biggest franchise will take place in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Thanks to a recent post by Cosmic Circus’ Lizzie Hill, we now may know exactly how Thor is gonna bite the dust in the MCU.

“From what we’ve heard, Thor will reunite with Loki at some point during these films. And he’ll essentially be one of the last OG Avengers remaining,” Hill revealed.

“Our friend Alex Perez did hear a rumor that Marvel wanted to give Chris Hemsworth’s Thor a proper send off in these movies in an epic way, with sources pointing to New Avengers (Vol. 3) #32 as the inspiration.”

So if you’re curious what happens in New Avengers Volume 3 issue #32… well, let’s just start by saying it would be a hell of a send-off.

There’s way too much comic lore to get into if you want the full context, but here’s the short of it: Thor and Hyperion (a character that probably won’t appear in the MCU any time soon) face down the Beyonders, knowing they’ll die.

In his final moments, Thor is deemed worthy once more and reclaims his full strength. He laughs, knowing he’ll find his place in Valhalla once he dies. Take my word for it; it was very cool.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is true, regardless of the veracity of the source. Almost all of the OG actors who played the Avengers are done with the MCU at this point, and Chris Hemsworth is one of the last remaining members of the old guard.

I don’t think they’d want him to end his portrayal of Thor on the low note that was Thor: Love and Thunder, so he does need a suitably epic ending to round off the character.

Add him to the list of likely deaths in Avengers: Doomsday, alongside Ant-Man.
