Finally, we’ve learned exactly how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man got his powers in a new Marvel prequel.

We all know the origin stories of some of the most popular comic book characters. Bruce Wayne eventually became Batman after his parents decided to take a stroll in the ominously named “Crime Alley” and ignored the blatant warning.

Check out the Marvel Studios trailer below!

Dr. Bruce Banner exposed himself to gamma radiation to become the Incredible Hulk, and Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider to become Spider-Man.

Some of these origin stories have been told so frequently, that modern movies tend to skip them completely rather than retelling an endless tale.

In the MCU, Marvel and Disney decided to skip the origin story of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, because we’ve all heard it before but that hasn't stopped fans from wondering, what if events had played out differently and we had no idea?

Well, as reported by CBR.com, it’s been officially confirmed how Peter Parker got his powers in the MCU as revealed in the first issue of the comic book series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

The Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man comic book series accompanies the animated series of the same name that’s arriving on Disney Plus very soon.

Before we proceed, we will be venturing into shocking spoilers for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 that you will absolutely not see coming.

The debut issue reveals that when attending his first day at school, Peter Parker is bitten by ... a radioactive spider. Shocking, I know.

Aunt May understandably panics, Peter Parker refuses help and says that he’s fine, unbeknown that he’s about to become the hero of Queens, New York.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 will be available on 11 December 2024 wherever you like to buy your comics. As for the animated series, it will debut on Disney Plus on 29 January 2025.
