A troubled MCU movie has reportedly lost one of its leading characters, resulting in a main villain being recast, thanks to Star Wars.
The Blade movie was first announced by Marvel Studios in 2019 and would star Mahershala Ali as its lead anti-hero Eric Brooks, the half-human and half-vampire, otherwise known as the Daywalker.
However, looking from the outside in, it seems like the first Blade movie of the MCU has been lost in limbo, with many fearing that it’s been quietly cancelled, never to see the light of day. There has been talk of changing directors, rewrites and more.

Fans of Marvel’s Blade franchise may have had high hopes for this reboot, especially those of not only the comics, but the movies starring Wesley Snipes too. However, it seems that the troubled stop-start production of the Blade movie has gone from bad to worse.
As reported by The Direct, Mia Goth, who was part of the Blade cast, was set to play the villain, Lilith, but has reportedly left the movie to fully commit to Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling.
Admittedly, I’ve never gotten around to reading the Blade comics from Marvel, but I am a big fan of the movies starring Wesley Snipes. Well, the first two movies, at least.
I was excited when the Blade MCU movie was announced, especially with Mahershala Ali being cast in the lead role, because he’s an amazing actor who would no doubt knock the role of Eric Brooks out of the park.

Sadly, this Blade production has had so many red flags, I’d be shocked if anything good comes of it. But, I hope that I’m wrong.
We’ll keep you posted if we hear of any further developments on the troubled Blade movie. Then again, the next news we hear might not be music to our ears.
