Marvel fans already divided over Scarlet Witch's MCU return

How will it work?

The MCU’s Scarlet Witch is easily one of its most popular characters, so you’d think her possible return would be a cause for celebration.

However, not all MCU fans are sure such a return is wise.

It isn’t that they don’t want Elizabeth Olsen to reprise the role – nearly everyone is in agreement that she’s excellent as the Scarlet Witch – the issue is how feasible it is.

As Fancy-Tadpole-6739 shared on r/MCUTheories, the last time Scarlet Witch met Doctor Strange it ended poorly.

How, if at all, will these two be able to get past, well, their past?

Speaking of the MCU, how are we feeling about Captain America: Brave New World?

User ChadUtes24 thinks it could go down like this (consider their idea a simplified version of possible events), “You f**ked up but you’re super powerful and we need your help. Thanks.”

Scarlet Witch is incredibly powerful thanks to the Darkhold, and thus it’s very likely Doctor Strange would be willing to look past their issues if she can help him take down the next big bad.

Other Marvel fans argue that their differences have already been settled. Moreover, if issues arise, Wanda has the perfect excuse.

“They already kinda moved past them, she always has the excuse of the Darkhold corrupting her,” reasons abysmallybored.

Redditor theoriginalbabayaga mirrors this theory that Wanda’s actions will be pretty much forgiven.

They said, “She took herself out. Nothing more needed from her. She saw what she did and what she’d become. Debt paid.”

Nobody is totally against the character coming back, as you can see. Still, nobody can decide how it’ll all play out when she does return.

If nothing else, it certainly makes her long anticipated comeback all the more exhilarating; it would be boring if we could easily guess what will happen.

One thing is for certain, the backlash will be harsh if Marvel even dares to suggest a possible recasting of the character.

Just look how badly fans have taken the news that a fan-favourite has been recast.

Nobody wants to deal with that fallout.
