Marvel officially confirms Scarlet Witch's MCU return, with a twist

Elizabeth Olsen herself seems just as confused as we are

The Scarlet Witch is officially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year, although the reasoning behind said return is a little bit up in the air.

Thank you in advance to The Direct's Nathan Johnson for the original source!

Marvel Zombies is set to drop on Disney+ on 3 October this year, and it’s going to feature Wanda "The Scarlet Witch" Maximoff in a big way.

We don’t know too much about the upcoming miniseries, other than the fact that it seems to be a spin-off to that one zombie episode in the first season of What If…? and that characters such as Shang-Chi, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan and Red Guardian are all set to return - all of whom will be voiced by the same A-list actors who play them in the MCU.

However, there is one little oddity involving Scarlet Witch that we can confirm (if “confirm” is even technically the right word).

Thunderbolts* is next up in the MCU.

So, what’s the twist? Well, nobody seems to know what Scarlet Witch’s role in the show will be… including Elizabeth Olsen.

When asked about her work on the upcoming MCU show, Elizabeth Olsen straight up admitted that she doesn’t remember much about what actually happens in it.

"I feel like I did that a few years ago, but… no, but I don't remember any of these things,” Olsen told Entertainment Tonight, “I don't know when they release them because the animation takes a long time."

Now Olsen could simply be trying to avoid spoiling anything here, but her answer seems so candid that I kind of believe her. The fact that she voiced her lines “a few years ago” does imply to me that Marvel has planned out something pretty important.

Then again, Olsen is a pretty good actor so… maybe this is just all a ruse. Guess we’ll have to wait until October to find out for sure.
