It looks like Ghost Rider might be about to finally make a debut in the MCU.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is preparing to close off its Multiverse Saga, but there are plans for projects extending into Phase 7 and beyond.
While we’re still waiting to hear about Black Panther 3 and Doctor Strange 3, it looks like Marvel will debut a new hero to the MCU very soon.

According to insider DanielRPK, Marvel Studios is reportedly putting a Midnight Sons film into development for the MCU, and Ghost Rider will apparently lead the team.
Marvel fans will best remember Ghost Rider as played by Nicolas Cage, in two films released for Sony between 2007 and 2011. However, the rights reverted back to Marvel Studios in 2013.
Since then, Ghost Rider has technically already appeared in the MCU. Two versions of the character appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was supposed to be set in the MCU while it was airing.
However, the show’s place in the canon has become a little blurry since it finished, with new Marvel film and TV projects contradicting certain story threads from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

So, it’s very likely that the Ghost Rider who will star in this new Midnight Sons film won’t be the one from the television series. What’s more, it probably won’t make any references to it either.
The Midnight Sons are a team led by Ghost Rider, and have included characters like Blade, Moon Knight, and Elsa Bloodstone in the past.
Considering the latter two have already appeared in the MCU, it’s possible a Midnight Sons film will serve to bridge some of the recent Marvel projects that haven’t really been utilised much recently.
After all, it should also link up to Werewolf By Night, Eternals, and whenever Blade gets off the ground.

Perhaps we’ll get a teaser when Phase 6 ends with Avengers: Secret Wars.
