Marvel's Doctor Strange replacement is coming 2025, and it's not who we expected

The future is doomed

Doctor Strange is no more. Well, at least how you may picture the sorcerer, as there’s a big change on the way and it’ll shake up all of Marvel Comics.

For those who haven’t been keeping up on the current runs of Marvel Comics, Doctor Doom is our current Sorcerer Supreme, which is a big enough change, but it’s about to get stickier.

Before Marvel can focus on Doom in the MCU we have to see the team-up Thunderbolts*

Marvel is building up to a shattering event that will see Earth’s heroes, perhaps the mightiest of them all, responding to the threat.

The Rise of Emperor Doom is the upcoming five-issue event that will change everything. Like every event does.

The series will open with Doom declaring himself emperor of the planet - because that always goes well - and Earth’s heroes trying to quell the despot.

Written by Ryan North (Fantastic Four), this series is going to have ramifications across several comics.

This perhaps points to Marvel focusing on the villain in preparation for the Avenger's upcoming duology of films, Avengers: DOOMSDAY and Avengers: Secret Wars.

As we know Robert Downey Jr is coming back to the MCU, this time with a different mask, Doctor Doom is going to be a big focus for the publisher and film studio.

It’s no surprise then that Marvel is making Doctor Doom the current big bad of the comics and pushing his New World Order on the populace of the world.

The first issue of the new run will focus on Doom’s speech and The Avenger’s storming Latveria’s closed borders.

Oddly, the world’s leaders appear to be going along with Doom’s plans so we’ll likely get an idea of whether this mind-control runs deeper than the leaders.

The event won’t start until next year where it'll begin building hype for Doom to become our focus.
