Avatar: Fire And Ash first teaser leaves fans seriously impressed

The latest entry in the Avatar franchise seems to be taking a much darker turn this time around

We finally have our first look at James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar 3, dubbed Avatar: Fire and Ash, and fans couldn’t be happier with what’s on offer.

Thank you in advance to Empire's Ben Travis for the original story!

Empire was granted a special look at James Cameron’s next entry in the Avatar franchise this week, and exclusive concept art reveals that the new film will focus on an entirely new tribe: the Mangkwan Clan.

The new tribe hails from a land known as the "Ash Village", which seems to operate as the complete antithesis of the Pandora we've come to know in the previous two Avatar films.

Captain America: Brave New World drops this week, film fans.

The Ash Village is, according to production designer Dylan Cole, supposed to serve as a contrast to lush, idyllic Pandora we know in both a literal and metaphorical sense.

“[The Mangkwan] had a natural disaster befall them, and that sort of helped shaped their culture… So much of the world of Pandora is rich and vibrant and full of life — this is just the exact opposite,” Cole explained to Empire.

Over on DiscussingFilm’s Twitter post discussing the reveal, fans chipped in with their excitement for the upcoming film.

“If I could time travel to the future, I'd only travel to this movie's opening night so I can watch it now,” commented user @ALBERTOMWANALDO.

“James Cameron really out here expanding the Avatar universe in the darkest way possible,” replied user @QuotesRashmika, “This could be the most intense Na’vi tribe yet.”

Well, luckily for a lot of folks in that thread, you won’t have to wait too long to catch the next film.

Avatar: Fire And Ash lands in cinemas on December 19, so you can treat your family to a nice festive film about, uh, a barren, ashen wasteland for Christmas.

Hey, could be worse, at least it’s not Red One this year.
