Harry Potter HBO Reboot Bringing Back Original Star

A memorable face returns

HBO's upcoming Harry Potter reboot TV series is currently in the midst of filming, and while it'll introduce us to an exciting new cast, many of whom have already been announced, so too will it bring back a familiar face.

It's 1 September and that can only mean one thing. Yes, it's Back To Hogwarts Day.

Today is traditionally the day that budding witches and wizards would board the Hogwarts Express to make their way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Let's face it, it's something we all yearned to do as children before JK Rowling spouted harmful opinions and soured the feeling.

That infamous boat arrival scene in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone has always scratched my brain in the right way; it's so incredibly iconic and magical.

But anyway, I digress.

These days, Back To Hogwarts Day has become a celebration of all things Harry Potter - and it's where updates on the franchise are typically announced.

It's pretty early in the day and we've already been treated to our first piece of big news.

HBO's Harry Potter series will bring back an original film cast member; the beloved Warwick Davies is now confirmed to be reprising his role as Professor Flitwick.

Flitwick is the familiar 'charms' professor but interestingly, this isn't the only role Davies played in the OG film series.

He also portrayed Griphook and the Goblin Bank Teller in Philosopher's Stone; this time, those roles will seemingly be taken on by Leigh Gill.

Additional cast members were revealed alongside Davies' return.

Sirine Saba will portray Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden is set to bring Professor Cuthbert Binns to life, while Bríd Brennan joins the cast as Madam Poppy Pomfrey.

When it comes to the student characters, Elijah Oshin will star as Dean Thomas, Finn Stephens joins as Vincent Crabbe, plus William Nash is down to play Gregory Goyle.

We'll, naturally, be keeping a close eye on any other reveals the day is set to bring.
