At long last, James Gunn has confirmed which actor will be taking on an iconic DC role in an upcoming movie.

The upcoming Clayface movie has been the talk of the town since it was first announced and at long last, we finally know who will be taking on the iconic role.

According to a Tweet by DC boss James Gunn, Clayface will be played by Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries in the upcoming movie by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan.

“After a long and incredibly exhaustive search, we finally have our DCU Clayface in Tom Rhys Harries,” Gunn posted.

“Both Matt Reeves and I were just blown away by this guy, and can't wait for you to see this film, directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan.”

Harries is perhaps best known for his role in Netflix’s White Lines but this will be the first time that the actor has taken on a superhero role.

Not only that but a report by Deadline reveals that the Welsh actor managed to bag the role despite going up against some other incredible British actors such as Jack O’Connell, Tom Blyth, Leo Woodall, and George MacKay.

As for Clayface, it will be set in the DC universe and is not expected to be connected to Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe.

It will of course be based on the iconic Batman supervillain known as Clayface who is capable of using its clay-like body to shapeshift.

As a result, the Clayface movie is expected to feature all of the psychological and body horror that comes with such an iconic villain.

The movie will begin filming at Warner Bros Leavesden studio in the U.K and so I’m sure it won’t be long before we see which other big names will be joining Harries in an exciting new supervillain movie.
