Batman fans in love with 'perfect' new live-action Joker

They're clearly taking some inspiration from the 1989 Batman film for this portrayal

Thanks to an American insurance company’s decision to spend what I can only assume was several hundred thousand dollars on a commercial, DC fans think they’ve finally found their perfect Joker.

State Farm is an insurance company that seems to be more famous for its adverts than its actual service, which is assumedly why they decided to pay through the nose to get a bunch of famous people to star in a new Batman advert for them.

The Batman vs. Bateman commercial features the likes of Jason Bateman as Bateman, Will Arnett as the actual Batman, and singer-songwriter SZA as Catwoman.

It also has a few famous influencers thrown into the mix too, including Jordan Howlett as Commissioner Gordon and Kai Cenat as some dude strapped to a bomb.

However, it’s probably the least famous actor in the advert that’s actually getting the most attention from fans; Josh Harp, who portrays The Joker.

Harp isn’t exactly anywhere close to an A-lister. In fact, his most famous roles are as background characters in TV show roles.

Based on comments on a Twitter thread discussing the casting, DC fans seem pretty keen for Harp to give the role a go for real though.

“I replayed Arkham Knight recently and kept wondering why they can’t make a movie look just like that. Every character is perfect. This commercial is pretty close!” commented user @TheScreenTeam.

“This is how the Joker is suppose to look,” replied user @blerd00.

“Modern version of Jacks Nicholsons Joker. Love it.”

The Jack Nicholson comparison is spot on, but I’m fairly certain that’s exactly what the casting directors for the advert were going for.

I mean take one look at Josh Harp’s IMDb page and tell me that guy doesn’t look like Nicholson in his late 40s. The resemblance is uncanny.
