It seems that Cyberpunk 2077 fans are in for a treat because new projects are on the way and could arrive much sooner than we expected.

Despite its initial launch woes in 2020, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 has gone on to be one of the most popular RPGs in recent years and fans are eager for more sci-fi goodness and it looks like that goodness is on the way.

Check out the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners trailer below!

One of the best things to come out of the Cyberpunk 2077 hype is the fantastic Netflix anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. On the aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners earned almighty scores of 100% from critics and 95% from the audience.

However, despite the critical success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, CDPR community manager Satoru Honma said during an interview with Famitsu (translated by VGC), that there are no plans for season two.

That being said, there may be some good news on the horizon because as reported by IGN, during a recent investors call, publisher CD Projekt said that it is “definitely” planning more Cyberpunk 2077 animated projects.

When asked during the investor call about the prospect of future projects, joint CD Projekt CEO Michał Nowakowski said: “We are definitely planning to do more in terms of animation with Cyberpunk, so I hope that's enough as an answer,” He continued: “So expect to see more for sure, but that's as far as I can go right now.”

There was no mention of whether one of the projects would be season two of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and I wouldn't be opposed to that not happening as a direct sequel after season one wrapped things up wonderfully. But it would be awesome if a new series would be about some of the supporting characters from season one.

We’ll keep up posted when we hear of any further information on the Cyberpunk 2077 animated projects.
