A truly iconic Star Wars character will return in Ahsoka Season 2, with a vital role to play as well.

We’ve all heard that infamous Star Wars line, “it’s a trap!”, it’s practically seared into the brains of fans for both its delivery and the endless memes.

It was spoken by Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi and has truly stood the test of time, much like the film itself

Unfortunately we know what becomes of Admiral Ackbar in the sequels, as he canonically perishes at the beginning of Star Wars: The Last Jedi when Leia’s ship is attacked by Kylo Ren.

Worry not though as he’s now coming back for Ahsoka Season 2, and he’s going head-to-head with the show’s main villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn…

In case you’re not caught up yet, Thrawn escaped his planetary prison in another galaxy at the end of the season, and is now free to rebuild the Empire in the main Star Wars galaxy.

While Ahsoka and Sabine attempt to escape the planet themselves it’ll be up to Ezra and Admiral Ackbar to keep Thrawn at bay apparently, and I honestly love this premise.

We know that Thrawn is a tactical genius when it comes to battlefields and starship battles, so to have Admiral Ackbar compete with him and possibly even outplay him is a really exciting opportunity. It also reunites us with a beloved character, so there’s that to look forward to as well.

That’s not the only familiar face coming back though, as it was also confirmed during today’s Star Wars Celebration panel that Anakin Skywalker will also be coming back for Ahsoka Season 2.

The chosen one will once again be played by Hayden Christensen, but it’s too early to tell if he’ll just be a force ghost or if we’ll get more Clone Wars flashbacks too, guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
