28 Years Later trailer confirms Cillian Murphy's fate

Jim doesn't look well

The years haven’t been kind to poor Cillian Murphy.

When Murphy’s character, Jim, first awoke in an abandoned hospital in 28 Days Later, his odds of survival seemed slim at best.

As the film progressed, every time he managed to make it through another near death experience, we stared at the screen in amazement.

Take a look at the brand new trailer below for 28 Years Later.

Sadly, Jim’s luck appears to have finally run out; if you can call being forced to fight for your life every day lucky.

A teaser for the third instalment, titled 28 Years Later, has been revealed, and poor Jim is looking a little worse for wear.

As you can see from the image shared by Discussing Films, Jim is no more. Or if he is, he’s about to expire any second.

We assume this is Murphy’s character – and it sure looks like him – but there’s been no confirmation that it is.

But even if this is a “fake out” like some are suggesting, it’s done a fabulous job at whipping film fans up into a frenzy.

“I thought he was alive? What the f**k????” exclaimed @NEPatriotsBoy. “That's upsetting if this true for fans of the first movie.”

Twitter user @j199024 said, “It's not a potential look, it looks like a potential spoiler no one was suppose to see.”

But maybe there’s a logical explanation for why this image has been shared...?

One fan thinks it’s part of a “dream sequence” designed to get us panicking that Jim is deceased when he’s actually alive and well, as well as he can be given the circumstances.

We’ve waited a long ass time to return to this franchise.

It could be argued we don’t need to and that the series is of its time, however, Hollywood disagrees.

Ready or not, we’re getting 28 Years Later, and Jim could be one of the many corpses we’ll see once we’re thrown back into the post-apocalyptic chaos.
