True Crime: Streets of LA is due for a remake, fans say. So powers that be, make it happen, you cowards!

True Crime: Streets of LA is an open-world action game from 2003 during a time when seemingly every publisher wanted a slice of that profitable GTA pie. To be fair, True Crime: Streets of LA was a fun game, but it perhaps did itself no favours by being dubbed a ‘GTA clone’ at the time of its release.

For consoles at least, True Crime: Streets of LA earned itself a very respectable 77 score on Metacritic. Sadly, its sequel True Crime: New York City didn't share the same critical success, garnering a top score of 60 on the aggregate website.

Regardless of what some may think of its sequel, that hasn't stopped fans from calling for a remake of the series and we’re inclined to agree. “I know sequel requests are a dime a dozen, but this is a series that really had a ton of future potential,” posted Redditor Tha_Sly_Fox.

“I loved Streets of LA the most though New York City had the best animations and detail although it had lots of sub-30 frames I feel,” agreed munitionchipsintoys. “Damn bro, that's unlocked a whole pack of memories, what a great game,” exclaimed fdpemdiasdospais.

Redditors were also keen to praise the sublime soundtrack of the True Crime video game series. “The soundtrack to TC LA was cracking. Loved playing as Snoop too,” such as SirDunkMcNugget. “‘You fought the law and the law won’. I played this game too many times,” added GoodGooglyMooglyy.

Sure we did kinda get a sequel to True Crime in 2012 with the criminally underrated Sleeping Dogs. This game started out as a sequel to True Crime: New York City, before then publisher Activision cancelled the project which was later picked up by Square Enix, who then renamed the game.

Speaking of which, the designer of Sleeping Dogs said in February 2022, that they’d love to see the series return. So, someone, give us a sequel, please? You cowards!
