The Witcher season five is officially confirmed, which seems risky at this point.

The third season of The Witcher series on Netflix is nearly upon us and for fans of the franchise, it brings forth somewhat of a double-edged Zireal sword. On one hand, it’s The Witcher and we can’t get enough of Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia.

Sadly however, it will also be Cavill’s final season in the role with his replacement, Liam Hemsworth confirmed to fill the void from season four. Unfortunately, the news of Liam Hemsworth being cast as Geralt has not gone down well with fans with season three already being review-bombed before it's even released.

So it remains to be seen how well-received season three will be from fans when it launches on Netflix this summer, let alone the fourth and even fifth season. Yet despite this, as reported by Redanian Intelligence, season five has already been confirmed.

In an interview with Deadline, The Witcher’s casting director Sophie Holland has confirmed that season four will soon begin filming, closing followed by the production of season five.

“We’re just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five,” said Holland. A previous report from Redanian Intelligence claimed that season four will begin filming in September this year with intentions of it being concluded by May 2024.

It probably doesn't matter who was to follow Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, they would have faced a gargantuan task to fill his shoes with the actor being so believed amongst fans. That being said, hopefully, Liam Hemsworth will prove all the doubters wrong and he’ll knock it out of the park.

In related news, Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer of Vengerberg in The Witcher on Netflix, said Henry Cavill’s departure from the series was hard to take.
