The Witcher season 3 is already being review bombed

The Witcher's upcoming third season is already being review-bombed as fans continue to protest against Cavill's departure.

Shall we all join together to release a therapeutic sigh? The review-bombers are, once again, out in full force - and this time, they’re targeting The Witcher’s upcoming third season. Yes, upcoming. It’s not out yet.

It’s no secret that Netflix’s The Witcher has had somewhat of a tumultuous time lately. Henry Cavill announced his departure from the show last year, with Liam Hemsworth due to take over as Geralt in season four. Cavill didn’t justify his departure but it’s assumed he didn’t agree with the direction the writers were taking the show in, prompting fans to create a petition asking Netflix to fire the writers and rehire Cavill. Just the other week, the first trailer for season three dropped and now, fans are continuing their protest against Cavill’s departure by review-bombing the series.

Take a look at the trailer for the upcoming third season below.

As reported by ScreenRant, viewers of the show are mass disliking the season three trailer on YouTube. If you’re thinking, ‘I thought YouTube had hidden dislikes’, Twitter user LegacyKillaHD was able to use a Chrome extension to view these. This revealed that the season three trailer had 52,000 likes compared to a whopping 202,000 dislikes. Yikes.

A quick trip to the comments will show you the general sentiment towards the upcoming season. One user wrote, “The final season of The Witcher. Thank you Henry Cavill for bringing this epic fantasy to life,” while another added, “Imagine having an actual Hollywood star playing his dream role and you squander it because he brought too much passion and knowledge to the production.”

It’s not the first project to be review-bombed. The trailer for The Marvels was also mass disliked - I can only imagine because it has three female leads. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores was review-bombed too for revealing that Aloy is gay. I shouldn’t imagine these are the last projects we’ll see hit by this practice.
