A recent job listing at CD Projekt RED has given us a little more insight into one of the many upcoming games set in The Witcher universe (and also simultaneously confirms that, contrary to what many assumed, said project hasn’t been outright cancelled).
Developers at CD Projekt RED are certainly keeping themselves busy at the moment, based on the number of games they’re currently working on.
Back in 2022, the developer announced that they were directly involved in the production of five unique titles.
You’re probably already familiar with two of them: The Witcher 4 and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. There's a good chance you've also heard of The Witcher Remake, originally titled Canis Majoris, which is primarily being developed by Fool's Theory.

The other two, however, are a bit less well-known. Firstly, you’ve got “Project Hadar”. We basically know nothing about this one, beyond the fact that it’s a new IP.
On the other hand, we have a lot more to go off of regarding Project Sirius. This title is set in The Witcher’s universe, and will feature both single-player and multiplayer elements. Only problem is… it sounds like things aren’t going too well on the development side of things.
Back in March 2023, CD Projekt's joint CEO Adam Kiciński revealed that development on Project Sirius had restarted and that their previous work had been almost entirely scrapped.
“Our intention was to cut costs early and give ourselves time for reassessment”, Kiciński noted (via IGN) during an earnings call.

“We don't want to carry on with projects that we are not aligned with. So basically, that's all we would like to share about Project Sirius for now.”
The bad news didn't stop there, though. Roughly a month later, it was revealed that several developers at The Molasses Flood, the developers in charge of Project Sirius, had been laid off. Then, in April 2025, The Molasses Flood was absorbed by CD Projekt, and several key members of staff resigned.
Many assumed that, contrary to CD Projekt RED’s official statements on the matter, this meant Project Sirius would be cancelled outright.
Surprisingly, that’s not the case. CD Projekt just put out a job listing for a Senior Gameplay Engineer on their official site, which outright states that they’re looking for someone to “join our team to work on Project Sirius - an original video game combining beloved aspects of The Witcher world with immersive multiplayer gameplay.”

Honestly, I can’t help but think that CD Projekt RED are stretching themselves a little thin here. They clearly have the budget to hire new people, which is great, but perhaps they may have gotten ahead of themselves by announcing all of these projects in one go.
Best of luck to whoever takes that job, because it sounds like you’ll have your work cut out for you.
