An Underrated PlayStation Game Is Getting A PS5 Remake, Trademark Suggests

An underrated PlayStation 4 exclusive may be getting the remake treatment, if recently discovered trademarks are anything to go by.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a new trademark with the United States Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO) for The Order: 1886, suggesting that a potential remake or remaster may be in the works.

The trademark, which is for "downloadable video game software", was filed in December 2021. It looks to be completely separate from the February 2015 filing for the original game.

Released back in 2015 for PlayStation 4, The Order: 1886 is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Ready At Dawn, the studio previously responsible for a number of God Of War spinoffs including Ghost Of Sparta and Chains Of Olympus.

The game takes place in a gorgeous alternate-history Steampunk London, and follows the Knights Of The Round Table as they battle werewolves, vampires, and other supernatural threats.

While the game was technically impressive and boasted some excellent ideas, the general consensus was that it was far too short. A Director's Cut-style remake with extra content would give The Order: 1886 a well-deserved second shot, but it remains unclear why exactly the trademark was filed. At this point, it's just as likely that SIE filed the trademark to keep selling the 2015 game via the PlayStation Network, although the fact it filed a separate trademark rather than renew the current one is slightly suspicious.

Rumours abound that Sony is planning a PlayStation State Of Play presentation for next month, so if there's anything to reveal in regards to The Order: 1886, it's likely we'll find out then. Watch this space.
