'The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time' Gets Gorgeous Unreal Engine 5 Remake

Hey, watch!

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is an incredibly special game, as I'm sure you know. Link's first fully 3D adventure is a damn-near flawless piece of work that remains, to this day, one of the most celebrated and critically acclaimed releases of all time.

Perhaps that's why even after 23 years, fans are still desperate to see the Nintendo 64 classic remade. We got an excellent 3DS remake that polished up the visuals and added some much needed modern touches, of course - but what people really want is Ocarina Of Time in HD, living its best possible life.

Take a look at the latest Zelda adventure in action below!

It's unlikely Nintendo will ever deliver the ground-up HD overhaul fans so desperately desire. Certainly not as long as it can keep re-releasing the original version of new consoles to thunderous applause, anyway. But if Nintendo won't do it, there are always fans that will.

We've seen plenty of Unreal Engine Zelda remakes in the past, including some stunning versions of Ocarina Of Time and The Wind Waker, but this new attempt is really something.

YouTuber RwanLink has shared their own interpretation of an Unreal Engine 5 Ocarina Of Time remake, and the results are quite impressive. As you can see in the video below, the creator has put together a highly detailed recreation of Kakariko Village that looks... substantially different to the original N64 title.

RwanLink has made use of all-new Unreal Engine 5 features such as Lumen, the real-time global illumination system to produce some properly stunning lighting effects. While this remake is admittedly not quite as bright or full of character as the original, it's still a damn impressive showcase of what Unreal Engine 5 - and RwanLink - can do. This is definitely one for Zelda fans to keep an eye on.
