The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is out, and, by all accounts, the map is a one-to-one recreation of everything we already knew and loved about the original game… which is great news for new players.
That’s because all of the hidden secrets and top-tier loot that Bethesda put in the original version of the game are right where you left them before. They just look prettier now.
So, if you're just starting out, where's the best place to get some easy, good stuff without breaking a sweat? The same place as before, according to these old comments: Sercen.

“Sercen.. north of the imperial city. it's one room but has a fair amount of chests, including a boss level chest. an easy dungeon to just go in, kill all, loot, sell, wait 3 days, etc.” writes user goosefrabaz99 over on GameFAQs.
“there's also one cave(forgot the name) where marauders and the black-bow people(forgot name) are fighting... let them fight and kill the rest... a LOT of loot to take.”
…quick interjection, goosefrabaz99 is referring to Rockmilk Cave in that last paragraph.
“First time through a dungeon is always exciting. I recommend you try some elven ruins called Sercen on the northen bank of the lake surrounding the Imperial city,” writes user TheGreyMage over on Reddit.

“Six or seven low level bandits and about 10 Welkynd stones to collect.”
If you’re curious how to find Sercen, it’s actually pretty straightforward.
Start out at the Imperial City. If you’re not sure where the Imperial City is, it’s that big city right in the centre of the map, surrounded by a big old moat. You literally cannot miss it.
From there, head directly up. If you go in a straight line, you’ll encounter an Oblivion Gate. Then, turn right. You’ll be at Sercen in a matter of seconds.

And that’s it. Definitely worth the early game loot, especially considering it’s trivial to get through it.
