Happy Friday all, and more importantly, happy The Batman release day. Batman’s latest outing, starring Robert Pattinson, is essentially a crime noir thriller, and is apparently set to be even edgier than before. Grab your Hot Topic shirts, we’re in for a ride.

But really though, in the last week, any scepticism anyone had about the movie has surely been blasted into oblivion. The critic reviews were incredibly positive - UNILAD wrapped theirs up saying “from grin to wince, The Batman is the big-screen light only the dark knight can provide. Reeves and Pattinson deliver the caped crusader’s most brutal movie yet; like a Bat out of hell.”

In case you missed it, check out the trailer for The Batman below.

On Rotten Tomatoes, The Batman is currently sitting at a very respectable 85% on the Tomatometer, but its audience score is even better. At the time of writing, it’s at an incredible 93%, from over 1000 verified ratings.

For comparison, that’s just 1% short of both The Dark Knight’s and Batman Begins’ scores, which probably tells you everything you need to know about how good this one is. It’s also 3% higher than The Dark Knight Rises.

With that in mind, it’s probably unsurprising that experts are predicting The Batman to have a really solid opening weekend. What might be a little more surprising is just how well they’re expecting it to do. To be exact, some believe it’s set to take home around $250 million globally, which would actually make it the fifth best opening weekend of all time, behind Avenger's Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers Infinity War, and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

Whether or not it actually manages this is yet to be seen - it might be a little more difficult to achieve given that the film has been pulled from Russian cinemas in response to the ongoing conflict with Ukraine: “In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia,” Warner Bros. announced. “We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy.”

Either way, it seems Pattinson’s Batman could become a firm fan favourite - it’s probably not going to be the last we’ll see of him in the role.
