'Street Fighter 6' Officially Announced With A Truly Awful Logo

Capcom's countdown timer has reached the end, and it's marked the announcement of Street Fighter 6.

Do you all remember just a few days ago when Capcom launched a mysterious countdown timer on its site? We were all preparing ourselves for something big to drop when the counter reached 0, and there was quite a lot of speculation as to what exactly it would be.

With rumours swelling about a potential Resident Evil 4 remake, and with the timer having a distinctly Resident Evil-y font, fans thought this announcement had big potential. It was either that, or DLC for Resident Evil Village which has absolutely blown through Capcom's sales targets.

Take a look at the new trailer right here and be prepared to be very whelmed by that logo.

However, the reveal turned out to be neither of these. Instead of mommy Dimitrescu we were blessed with a very daddy Ryu. Yep Street Fighter is back and Ryu now has a body which could rival Chris Redfield's in Resident Evil 5. Essentially, his neck and bicep appear to share the same model.

The character he's up against appears to be fairly new character Luke, judging by this USA boxing gloves and peppy demeanour. Though he has been through a little bit of a redesign. He's looking a little more mature, with darker hair, and gone are his all American tattoos. They've also given him a winning smile which is nice to see.

However, we're all here to talk about the logo. While there is nothing strictly wrong with it (from a functionality standpoint), the vibe is a little bit too similar to an app giving you annoying notifications. It also bears a few too many similarities to the Sleeping Dogs logo, or on that point, Scooby Doo's collar.

Whether Capcom decides to give the design a second pass or not, we won't know more about Street Fighter 6 until the summer when Capcom has promised to give us all more information.
