Streamers Are Calling The New 'Warzone' Event "Awful"

Operation Monarch has brought King Kong and Godzilla to Call of Duty: Warzone, but the event appears to be a monstrous failure.

It’s hard to miss the fact that two colossal titans have recently trampled their way into Call of Duty: Warzone. If you hadn’t guessed, I am of course talking about King Kong and Godzilla who have found their way to Caldera as a part of the Operation Monarch limited-time event.

Crossovers aren’t new to Warzone, although they’re not particularly popular either. 80s cinematic icons like John Rambo and John McClane, and horror villains like Leatherface and Billy The Puppet have also graced the game with their presence. It can all feel a bit needlessly silly and one particular streamer really isn’t impressed.

If you're yet to dive in, take a look at the Operation Monarch trailer below which is admittedly much better than the limited-time event itself.

Twitch streamer and YouTuber Nickmercs recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Operation Monarch and needless to say, he’s not a fan. “This Warzone event is awful,” he began. “Maybe we’re spoiled from the Fortnite ones, but damn bro. King Kong [and] Godzilla don’t even fight.”

He’s not wrong. The reveal trailer for Operation Monarch appeared to set up an epic battle between King Kong and Godzilla, but the duo don’t even interact. Instead, the two titans are little more than background dressing.

The threat is very much still your fellow players. It’s just that now you occasionally have to avoid getting trampled to death by King Kong who furiously runs across the island, or decimated by Godzilla’s atomic breath (who refuses to leave the ocean).

Nickmercs wasn’t the only one left unimpressed. Fellow streamer DrDisrespect also shared his thoughts on Twitter, “That Warzone event 2.2/10.” I’m sure some people are enjoying Operation Monarch. It’s just not what we were hoping for, which was seeing King Kong and Godzilla battle it out from the ground. The event runs until 25 May if you want to see these two classic monsters in action, or rather not in action it seems.
