It’s always lovely to see an indie game getting a ton of hype and evidently, we are all very, very excited indeed for cat detective game Stray. Developed by BlueTwelve Studio, Stray sees players embody a stealthy cat who has to traverse a world populated with robots in order to reunite with its family, and already my little heart is broken. Poor kitty.

We all know how obsessed the internet is with cats (It’s me. I’m the internet.) so Stray has always felt like a guaranteed success. In case you missed it, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can grab the game for free when it releases on 19 July. Cue happy purring. If you’re worried that your real life cat might death-stare you if it sees you spending time with a virtual kitty, rest assured. Bribe your cat’s love with some official Stray merch.

Check out the trailer for Stray below ahead of its release next week.

Publisher Annapurna Interactive have teamed up with Travel Cat to create a limited edition Stray collection which includes a harness and travel backpack, so you can take your real life feline on its own adventure. Well, in theory. My cat would look at me with a big resounding no if I suggested such a thing, but I’m sure there’s some curious kitties out there.

The collection allows players to “spend more quality time with cats beyond the great indoors and give cats the enrichment and stimulation they need in a feline-friendly way to support a long and happy life.” So wholesome.

The Stray harness is actually a replica of the one featured in the game, and comes complete with a Stray logo. Annapurna and Travel Cat note that the harness is “perfect for walks around the block or exploring a mysterious cybercity full of robots.” Multi-functional. I like it. The most important thing is that we keep our feline friends safe and you’ll be glad to know, this harness comes complete with a strong nylon reflective leash.

The neon and charcoal cat bubble Stray backpack holds “up to 25 pounds of cat” which might be the best thing I’ve ever quoted. The backpack is breathable and well-ventilated and allows you to safely transport your cat almost anywhere. If you don’t have a cat, don’t worry. According to Travel Cat, you can also use it for “pet ferrets and rabbits to small dogs and groceries.” The purrfect collection is available to pre-order today so if you want the coolest kitty in town, you know what to do.
