You asked and Bethesda answered: Starfield is getting a major March update filled to the brim with a bunch of new features and improvements.

When we reviewed Starfield last year, we couldn't say enough nice things about it. In a 10/10 review we praised its vast open universe and cosmic mysteries. Not everyone thinks quite so highly of the game, however, with many agreeing that it falls short of Bethesda's usual RPG offerings. Whatever your stance, this new update should please almost everyone.

"On March 6, we'll be putting our next update into Steam Beta," Bethesda confirmed on Twitter. "This update focuses on quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes as we get ready to add more features and content to Starfield this year."

Highlights so far include improvements to the scanner, specifically allowing to continue to use it to monitor the world while harvesting resources or opening doors, rather than stopping us dead in our tracks.

Elsewhere, setting course towards an inactive mission will automatically make it active, and we can expect a few tweaks to some broken quests. That's about the size of what's been confirmed so far, but it's a definite step forward for a game that a lot of players feel could warrant a Cyberpunk 2077 style redemption arc. Whether you feel Starfield needs such a redemption is, of course, a matter of opinion.

"We hope this update will continue to improve your experience in Starfield," Bethesda signed off. "Stay tuned for the update notes next week for all the details!"

So definitely not the major batch of sexy new content and big overhauls some of you might have been hoping for, but we have to try and remember this is a Bethesda game. I'm sure a modder will be working on what you want as we speak.
