Starfield is available for everyone to download this week

Commencing countdown

Starfield will be available for everyone to download this week, if a new leaked listing on Amazon is to be believed.

Starfield is already available to download for Xbox Game Pass subscribers and people who have pre-ordered the game, although I should stress that just because you can download doesn't mean you can play it yet! The game will unlock 1 September for early access folk, and 6 September for the rest of us peasants.

Take a look at Starfield in action below!

This is just as well, given the game clocks in at a hefty 125GB. That gives us plenty of time to make sure the game is downloaded and good to on release. Assuming we aren't hit with a massive day one patch, of course.

But what about those of us who haven't got the game pre-ordered? What do we do? Well, the good news, according to a leaked listing on Amazon, is that Starfield will be available to pre-download for everyone from 9 August. That's just a few days away!

There's a chance Amazon has posted this information in error, but the general consensus seems to be that it's legit. Naturally, fans are pretty thrilled about the fact they have weeks to get the game installed, especially since there's nothing worse than booking time off work to play a new game only to spend almost the entire day waiting for the fecker to download.

Over on the Starfield subreddit fans are wary of a day one patch, which could derail launch day fun. After all, Fallout 76 - the last game from Bethesda Softworks - had a day one patch that was bigger than the actual game. Then again, Starfield's 12 month delay, along with Bethesda's assurance that this is the least buggy game they've ever released, is a positive sign that we should be able to hit the ground running come September.
